What is a Senior Railcard?

A Senior Railcard is one of the many money-saving railcards available. You are eligible if you are 60 years old or over. This railcard saves 1/3 on train tickets when you apply the railcard at the time of purchase. You must travel with your railcard in order for the discount to be valid.

How much is a Senior Railcard?

There are two options available when purchasing a Senior Railcard - you can choose a 1-year or a 3-year Senior Railcard depending on your travel needs. 

The 1-year Senior Railcard is £30 and the 3-year Senior Railcard is discounted at £70, saving you £20 when you compare this to 3 individual yearly railcards. Buying a 3-year railcard means you don't need to renew your railcard each year.

How do I use a Senior Railcard?

When making your booking, make sure you apply a Senior Railcard to your journey by selecting it from the list of railcards. We'll then automatically show you the discounted fares. Complete your booking and carry your railcard with you on your journey. You will be asked to show this during ticket checks on board. You can choose to travel at any time with Hull Trains with a Senior Railcard.

It’s a railcard for people aged 60 or over saving 1/3 on train tickets. It is available as a 1-year or 3-year railcard and can be purchased in either a digital or physical format.

Where can I buy a Senior Railcard?

You can purchase a Senior Railcard online via the button at the top of this page and choose from either a 1-year or 3-year option. You can also purchase a Senior Railcard at the station. You will need proof of ID for your date of birth.

Do I need a photo for a Senior Railcard?

You will need a passport style photo (shoulders up) if you are purchasing a digital Senior Railcard online. 

How old do you have to be for a Senior Railcard?

You must be 60 or over to have a Senior Railcard. You cannot buy one in advance of your 60th birthday from stations, however you can order one online up to 14 days in advance of your 60th birthday.

How much money can I save with a Senior Railcard?

You can save 1/3 on train fares with a Senior Railcard.

Can I use my Senior Railcard to buy tickets for other people?

No, you can only purchase tickets for yourself, and you cannot purchase tickets for anyone else using your Senior Railcard.

Can I use my Senior Railcard on the Underground?

If you take your Senior Railcard and Oyster Card to a London Underground station, a member of staff can apply your railcard discount for you. Save 1/3 on off peak pay as you go London Underground travel. Get discounted travel after 9:30 on weekdays and anytime on weekends and bank holidays.

Can I use my Senior Railcard anywhere in Britain?
