The operator has seen record employee engagement levels this year and their ongoing commitment to improving diversity and colleague wellbeing, whilst maintaining a strong focus on their customers, has landed them the top spot at the local business awards.
The Hull Live Business Awards are known for spotlighting outstanding local businesses and their contributions to the Hull and East Riding community, making it such an amazing place to live and work. In their 23rd year, they have again set out to honour the region’s best businesses, and the amazing people behind them, from the boardroom to the shop floor and, in doing so, recognised Hull Trains for its exceptional dedication to nurturing an inclusive workforce and the train operator's continued efforts to prioritise colleagues’ growth, development, and well-being.
Hull Trains has continued to go from strength to strength this year and has recently been recognised nationally in the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) statistics for being both the most reliable and best-performing rail operator in the UK.
The Hull-based company has also been awarded numerous honours at a national level for its dedication to well-being, diversity, and equality. In May, Hull Trains was awarded the top employer accolade at the prestigious Women in Rail Awards.
Louise Mendham, Service Delivery Director at Hull Trains, said: “We’ve invested heavily in creating a working environment in which our colleagues feel proud to work here and where we can attract the right new talent. This award is a real testament to the work we’ve done over the past few years and I’m extremely thankful to the whole Hull Trains team.”
Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director at Hull Trains, added: “At Hull Trains, our colleagues are at the heart of our organisation and our team is built on local people, working for a local company, providing a great service to our customers, so this recognition is invaluable. This award reaffirms our commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported and is a testament to the great work of our whole team who all help make our company such a great place to work.”
