London Kings Cross is to be closed on the weekend of June 5th and 6th which could have disrupted plans for people looking to travel to the city to meet with family, friends and loved ones following the easing of lockdown.
However, Hull Trains has stepped in and will now be the only operator running direct services from East Yorkshire to London that weekend, taking passengers to St Pancras whilst the temporary closures are in place.
The announcement comes as Hull Trains increases the number of services it runs weekly to London to 68, to cater for the many people who are looking to celebrate the easing of lockdown. The operator had, in recent weeks, been running a reduced timetable in line with Covid-19 safety restrictions.
Managing Director of Hull Trains, Louise Cheeseman, said: “We are delighted to finally be offering our passengers an increased number of weekly direct services to London. We recognise the desire from people to start planning weekends away and meeting with friends and family, so Hull Trains is offering a range of great value tickets for those wanting to travel by train now that lockdown is easing.”
“After such a challenging year, it’s great to be welcoming travellers back onto our trains, and our services to St Pancras will ensure people can get back to enjoying the sights and activities in London on June 5th and 6th without complication.”
On Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th June, Hull Trains services will be operating to/from London St Pancras, so you can still enjoy your days out in the capital. Services will not be calling at Beverley, Cottingham, Doncaster, Retford, Grantham or Stevenage. Book your tickets here: https://www.hulltrains.co.uk/
On Friday 4th June, a reduced and amended timetable to and from London Kings Cross will operate before midday. No trains will run after midday. For more information and to view the amended timetable, visit our website: https://www.hulltrains.co.uk/travel-information/engineering-works
