SIGNALLING A NEW ERA OF TRAIN TRAVEL

The East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) is delivering the next generation of train travel – introducing digital signalling to create a better performing East Coast Main Line for passengers, freight and the communities who depend on the route.

The introduction of digital signalling onto the East Coast Main Line will see traditional lineside signals removed and upgraded with European Train Control System (ETCS) technology. This will provide continuous, real-time information to the train driver’s cab, resulting in more reliable and greener services for all passengers.

Hull Trains are working collaboratively with over 30 partnership organisations to deliver benefits and legacy for the UK rail industry.

Upcoming Engineering Works

Upgrade of the signalling system is a significant task, and this means that there will be some periods of disruption to passengers whilst this work takes place. Engineering works to improve the rail network will usually take place overnight and at weekends with alternative transport provided where possible.

Details of engineering works and disruption related to ECDP scheduled can be viewed on our Engineering Works page.
