About Hull Trains

Park the Car

...and take the train instead! It could save you time and money, and help you reduce your carbon footprint. And as if that wasn't enough, here are even more great reasons to take the train:

  • When did you last hear someone mention a traffic jam on a train?
  • When the train goes very fast, you don't get a speeding fine.
  • Reading a book or the newspaper will not endanger the lives of you or your fellow passengers.
  • ...and neither will day-dreaming out of the window or dozing off.
  • You don't have to turn the map upside down. In fact, you don't need a map at all.
  • You can stretch your legs without accidentally braking or accelerating.
  • You can enjoy beautiful views out of the window instead of looking at the back end of the car in front.
  • You don't need to find a parking space, or worry about parking tickets or the congestion charge.
  • You can eat or drink safely and comfortably without having to stop halfway through your journey at the motorway services.
  • You can concentrate on your work instead of having to concentrate on the road.
  • You're in safe hands - rail is 9 times safer than car travel (ATOC, 2008)

Long Distance Travellers

0 5 years

We can take you to some great destinations so why not go somewhere new? And if you travel 200 miles once a month by train (such as Hull to London) you could save over half a tonne of CO2 over a year compared to driving. That's the same amount of CO2 emitted by the electricity used to power a TV for 5 years.

Business Travellers

As well as enabling you to get more work done, taking the train to your meetings helps reduce your carbon footprint too. For example by taking the train once a week on a return journey between Hull and Stevenage saves nearly 1.5 tonnes of CO2 over a year compared to driving. That's the same amount of CO2 emitted by the electricity used to power a computer for 11 years.

Commuters

Buying a season ticket saves you money, and if you travel 100 miles to work (e.g. between Grantham and London) every day by train, you are saving over 5 tonnes of CO2 each year compared with driving. That's the same amount of CO2 emitted by the electricity used to power a fridge for over 55 years.
